The China Pakistan Economic Corridor: Regional Ramifications
On Friday, May 12th, the Hudson Institute’s South and Central Asia Program, in conjunction with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), held a roundtable discussion on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), called “The China Pakistan Economic Corridor: Regional Ramifications”.
The panel of speakers consisted of Dr. Samir Saran from the ORF, Dr. C. Christine Fair from the Georgetown University and Amb. Husain Haqqani from the Hudson Institute. The participants included members from think tanks, universities, the government and the private sector.
Topics that were discussed included the potential impact of CPEC on Pakistan’s security, China’s strategic designs in the region through CPEC, the economics behind the CPEC and the long-term goals of the CPEC for both Pakistan and China.
